Ornate Brass Currency Bracelet

This massive ornate brass bracelet is a form of currency found among the Bamun people of Cameroon. Although, historically used as a currency bracelet, it also served as a prestige piece used by Bamoun elites during traditional ceremonies. This bracelet reflects the tradition of casting in copper-alloy and lost wax technique that was developed under King Ibrahim Njoya (1873-1933).

This contemporary reproduction was handcrafted by metal workers in West Cameroon.
